Make sure your car is ready for winter during free car inspections

From November 12 to November 27 from From 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., free car inspections will take place in six Latvian cities, where drivers will have the opportunity to find out whether the car is fully prepared for winter roads. Last season, in a similar campaign, 300 cars were checked, and more than 80% were found to have insufficient light intensity.

"Before the winter season, every driver would be advised to make sure of the safety and technical condition of their car, not only by changing tires, window wipers and fluid, but by paying attention to the technical condition of the car. The traditional MOT does not measure the brightness of the headlights, so drivers have to make sure of it themselves before the dark winter months. Last year, most car headlight bulbs were not bright enough and in some cases the lights had to be properly adjusted," says Jānis Vanks, director of the Safe Driving School.

During inspections:
• Will determine the compliance of winter tires with the law and the basic principles of safe driving - they are in working order if they are not older than five years, and the tire tread in the shallowest part is not less than 4 to 5 millimeters;
• Will check the operation of the car battery;
• I will inspect the car's headlights to find out whether they are properly adjusted and do not dazzle oncoming drivers;
• Will check the quality of the window wipers so that they can be replaced if necessary;
• He will provide advice on safe driving in the winter season and the preparations to be made so that the car is ready for winter roads.

After the test, drivers will receive a specialist's conclusion, which will help them properly prepare for the winter driving season.

Safety on the road is a long-term concern for both your car and other road users, and high-quality and weather-appropriate fuel also plays an important role in it. Circle K Latvia fuel category manager Gatis Titovs reminds that in the winter season it is even more important to choose high-quality fuel that will protect the car engine and optimize its performance. "So that the water in the fuel system does not start to form corrosion, does not freeze in winter and does not stop the operation of the engine, the fuel in the lighthouse should be more than half. In addition to that, fuel quality-improving additives, such as cetane improvers, will make starting the engine easier in cold weather," explains Gatis Titovs.

safety, free car inspection is offered by the Safe Driving School (DBS Autoskola) in cooperation with Circle K gas stations. Each participant of the campaign who will check the car will also receive a free hot drink.
